Lent is the season of preparation for Good Friday and Easter. It is a forty day journey over six weeks (not including Sundays) meant for reflection and renewal.
Our Lenten journey begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1 at 18:30 with a service of penitence and reflection.
The Women’s World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 3 at 18:30 at ESUMC. Click here for more information.
We will remember the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, April 13 at 18:30. Please bring a food dish to share.
There are two opportunities to commemorate the death of our Lord on Good Friday on April 14. Join the 12:30 ecumenical prayer service hosted by Christ Church Vienna (Jauresgasse 17-19, 1030 Wien); Pastor Matthew and other area clergy will share on the last seven words of Jesus. Or come to the 19:30 service of darkness at ESUMC.
The special Lenten Bible taught by Pastor Matthew will take place every Wednesday evening during Lent (March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5, 12). The Bible study will begin each time at 18:30 with soup and salad with the study to follow the meal. The study is entitled “He Set His Face to Jerusalem” which focuses on Jesus’ final journey to Jerusalem.
The Bible study will be in the ESUMC fellowship area.
On Sunday, March 19th at 14:30 there will be a special guided tour of the Wien Museum’s temporary exhibit “Protestant Vienna. Religious Conflict after Luther.” A professional museum guide will lead the tour. The cost is 5 Euros, payable the day of the tour.
