Dear ESUMC members and friends,
I pray God’s blessings on you and your loved ones in this holy season of Easter.
Please join us for worship this Sunday, as we read Psalm 23 and from John’s gospel and reflect upon Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Even though the lockdown in Vienna has been extended, this Sunday 25 April the doors of the sanctuary will be open for worship for up to 50 persons. The service shall begin at 11:15, and as usual shall also be livestreamed and available via Zoom. Please see the notice regarding ongoing in-person worship restrictions at the end of this email.
As previously announced, on Sunday following our worship service, members of the ESUMC Church Council shall gather for our annual Charge Conference with Superintendent Pastor Stefan Schröckenfuchs. In past years, this annual meeting has often been open to the ESUMC congregation (in what officially is called a Church Conference). However, due to the pandemic, this year only the members of the ESUMC Church Council shall participate in the meeting. We thank the congregation for your understanding, and a review of the Charge Conference will be shared in the next congregational newsletter.
I look forward to having you join us Sunday for worship, either in the sanctuary or from home.
Yours in Christ,Pastor John The Rev. John Calhoun

A Reminder of In-Person Worship Restrictions During the Lockdown
The government has confirmed that during the current lockdown, persons shall be allowed out to attend religious worship services. Thus, ESUMC shall remain open for in-person worship, with the following restrictions: FFP2 mask and two meters of social distance required, no congregational singing, maximum 50 people allowed in worship.
However, given the severity of the current pandemic, and to protect yourselves, your loved ones, and your fellow church members, please take into consideration the option of worshipping at home during the lockdown period. In the spirit of mutual solidarity, if you desire to worship in the sanctuary during lockdown, you are strongly encouraged to test negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours before attending worship. It is not necessary to bring evidence of a negative test with you.
If you do wish to worship in person, and would like written confirmation that you are exiting your home to attend worship at ESUMC, please let Pastor John know and a statement will be issued to you in advance by email.
