Weekly News, 24 Sept. 2021

Dear ESUMC members and friends,
I pray that you and your loved ones have enjoyed a blessed week.
This Sunday in worship we shall offer a blessing on ESUMC’s Sunday School ministry, which shall be provided for children aged 5-14. During the service, our Sunday School teachers and leaders will be recognized, some introductory words about the ministry will be given, and prayers will be offered for our teachers and students.
Dear parents, in preparation for the opening of Sunday School on 3 October, please note the following:

  • All children, teachers and helpers must be 3-G compliant.
  • For children ages 6-12, the validity period of a negative Covid test is 72 hours (PCR test) and 48 hours (antigen test). Parents, we strongly encourage you to bring your child with an official test result, such as the Ninja Pass. If this is not possible, you may conduct a nasal swab rapid antigen test of your child at church. (Please arrive early for testing.)
  • Initially, Sunday School will be conducted as a one-room class in the Wesley Room, with breakout groups for activities as needed.
  • Children will be ushered out of the sanctuary following Children’s Time, and will rejoin their parents after the service. On Communion Sundays, children will rejoin their parents for the celebration of the sacrament.

We thank you for your cooperation and patience. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sunday School coordinator Shelley Brauneis at sundayschool.esumc@gmail.com or speak with Pastor John.
Finally, please remember that all persons entering the church building for worship shall provide evidence of 3-G compliance. That is, one of the following (digital or print) must be shown upon entry:

  • a certificate of full vaccination
  • a certificate of recovery
  • a negative Covid test (within 48 hours for a PCR test, within 24 hours for an antigen test)

ESUMC’s full original statement regarding new Covid-related regulations can be found at the end of this email.
Yours in Christ,Pastor John

15 September 2021
Dear ESUMC members and friends,
Greetings and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As we are all aware, stricter regulations regarding the pandemic go into effect today across Austria. These new regulations also impact the life of our congregation.
Below please take note of new regulations regarding worship and fellowship for both ESUMC and the Fünfhaus congregation, which shall be in effect as of this Sunday 19 September.
Worship. All persons entering the church building for worship shall provide evidence of 3-G compliance. That is, one of the following (digital or print) must be shown upon entry:

  • a certificate of full vaccination
  • a certificate of recovery
  • a negative Covid test (within 48 hours for a PCR test, within 24 hours for an antigen test)

This regulation shall be in effect for all adults and children aged 6 years or older. However, for children ages 6 to 12, the validity period of a negative Covid test is longer (72 hours for a PCR test, 48 hours for an antigen test). Parents, we strongly encourage you to bring your child with an official test result, such as the Ninja Pass. If this is not possible, with your consent your child can be tested at church with a nasal swab rapid antigen test.
Ushers will be posted at the front entrance door starting at 10:45 on Sunday morning to confirm 3-G documentation. Please kindly be prepared to show your documentation, to ease the burden being placed on our volunteer ushers serving in this important role. For persons arriving before 10:45 (such as those providing leadership for worship), Pastor John will confirm documentation.
After entering the building, worshipers will sign their names on the registration form as usual, receive a hymnal, and proceed to their seats.
Inside the building, masks are not required to be worn. However, out of an abundance of caution for those more vulnerable to the virus, we encourage mask wearing while indoors.
Coffee Hour Fellowship. When the weather permits, we shall continue to enjoy fellowship after the service outdoors in the garden as usual. When the weather is poor, a brief time of fellowship will be offered indoors, and all are welcome.
Choir Rehearsal. Rehearsals following worship shall continue as usual.
Dear friends, I recognize that these new regulations place an additional burden on participation in worship, and that there may be some who may not join us for worship. We shall continue to broadcast the worship service via Zoom and Livestream as usual.
It is with great sadness that the virus continues to spread here in Austria, and that disruptions to daily life persist. As a Christian congregation, we have a responsibility to support efforts in the wider society to protect the vulnerable and do our part in defeating this pandemic. As noted, the Fünfhaus congregation shall also abide by these regulations, as together we unite in Christian solidarity.
I thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please feel free to be in contact with me if you have any questions or concerns.
May God bless you and keep you and your loved ones safe and in peace.
Yours in Christ, Pastor John
