Weekly News, 21 December 2020

Dear ESUMC members and friends,

Greetings and peace to you all. In these final days before the celebration of Christmas, I pray God’s blessings on you and your loved ones. As we prepare to enter yet another phase of lockdown, let us cast our eyes on the coming Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, whose light breaks through the darkness of night.

In joy and thanksgiving we shall celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with a service of worship on Christmas Eve, 24 December, at 18:00 in the church. The sanctuary will be open, and all are invited to attend. Holy Communion will be served to those worshipping in person. As previously announced, if you plan to attend the Christmas Eve service in person, please send an email and tell us how many total members of your household plan to attend. Thank you for your cooperation.

As usual, the worship service will also be streamed live via Zoom. Connect by computer or smartphone:

2) Every Tuesday, our Wärmestube outreach to persons in need operates from the church from 11:30 to 14:30. Volunteers are welcome to serve. For more information, please contact Doreen Ighama.

3) We encourage ESUMC members and friends to return your Estimate of Giving form for 2021. Please consider a generous gift to support the ministry of ESUMC in 2021. In case you did not receive an Estimate of Giving form, please speak with Franz Haslinger or Pastor John, or email the church office and one shall be forwarded to you. And just a reminder: At any time, you may make a bank transfer to the ESUMC account, using the details at the end of this email.

4) As previously announced, the Rev. Bill Mooney passed away on November 26, 2020. Pastor Mooney served as pastor of ESUMC from 1991-1997. We express our Christian sympathy to his wife Sylvia and extended family. You may read Pastor Mooney’s obituary here: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/knoxnews/obituary.aspx?n=william-c-moo….

Christian friends, may your hearts be filled with joy, as we await the coming of our Lord Jesus.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor John
